Luis is a passionate music teacher and performer who plays multiple instruments. He is a certified teacher in the state of Texas. He has been a math tutor at Texas Department of Assistance and Rehabilitation Services (DARS) since 2011 as a volunteer.
Beginning his music endeavors at age 11, Luis has gained a strong conviction on the positive impact studying music can have in a person’s life, Luis has ten years of direct experience teaching students from ages 5 to 65 years young.
As he completed his undergraduate degree in mathematics education, Luis became involved in the praise and worship ministry at age 18 and has served as worship pastor and musical director for ten years. Additionally, he served as youth pastor for six years.
Following his aspirations to become a Music Therapist, Luis was led to Sam Houston State University where he is completing his graduate studies in Music Therapy. He is a strong promoter of youth involvement in community outreach through music. Luis regularly volunteers at adult health care centers and public events where he promotes a message of hope and joy through music.
Luis’s approach to music lessons is to work with each student at their level of need. He focuses on strengthening weaknesses and developing strengths to help each student progress.
