Krystina makes music because it gives her a visceral joy in being alive. Music is her avenue to the emotions and the understanding that is so often absent in the machinations of daily life. Music allows her to connect with others. So much of music is an art form that allows us to enlighten, heal, and encourage each other to strive for bigger and better things every day. Her passion stems from a love of rhythm and an interest in a myriad of different forms of music. Musical Theatre is her favorite form of expression; there’s nothing quite like the empowering feeling of overcoming one’s fears and performing in front of a captivated audience. Among other forms of music, Krystina enjoys jazz, pop, country, and classical.
From dozens of shows at various locales to school orchestras from 3rd grade through 12th, to her productions throughout high school: music has played a central role in her life since she was 6 years old, performing at Crystal Theater in her hometown. She has continued on to pursue a degree in Vocal Performance at Berklee College of Music where she has performed in countless Cabarets and smaller productions. Music is as integral to her survival as the air that she breathes.
In an effort to be an ever-adapting musician in today’s music industry, she learns as much as possible about each instrument she plays. Whether she’s strumming her guitar or ukulele, riffing on the piano, or practicing the trumpet, she strives to ensure she gives it her all. Krystina’s work fits into the context of music through her interest in learning about the past techniques and styles of composition, then incorporating them into her own unique style. She has performed classical pieces since childhood, while, at the same time, portraying Broadway and other modern music selections in her singing and orchestral performances.
Krystina is pursuing a degree focused on teaching and has had multiple voice and piano students over the years. She began working at a community theater ten years ago and taught voice and choreography while also directing performances.
She is very excited to work with students in Houston to help them achieve their personal music goals. Krystina wholeheartedly believes that learning music is very rewarding: it lightens one’s spirits and makes the heart soar!
