Corban is a graduate of Sam Houston State University. She studied music and performed with some of the state’s best musicians and teachers. Her background includes masterclasses with Helen Callus and Ivo van der Werff. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music and plans to attend graduate school for Viola Performance with a focus in String Quartet Performance in the near future.
Corban began studying viola at age 10 alongside her piano studies, which began at age 6. She was selected the top orchestras in school, competed in and received superior ratings at the State Solo & Ensemble competitions, participated in the Region IX Symphony and Philharmonic orchestras throughout middle and high school, and has extensive experience playing
Corban began studying music at a young age. She has taught music lesson for years including piano, violin, & viola. She began viola at age 10 and piano at age 6. She performed in the top orchestras in school, competed, and received superior ratings at the State Solo & Ensemble competitions. She also participated in the Region IX Symphony and Philharmonic orchestras and has extensive experience performing in professionally.
During her musical career at SHSU, Corban studied privately with Eliseo Rene Salazar, Dawson White, and Nina Bledsoe. Corban was a member of the SHSU Symphony Orchestra and worked under the direction of Zachary Carretin, Jonathan Pasternack, and Jacob Sustaita. Having worked with various teachers with varying styles have greatly prepared Corban to be a teacher who can adapt to any style of learning.
She believes teaching is the most rewarding experience and has been successful in teaching students of all ages. Corban is very focused on musical technique and theory foundation while also making sure her students are enjoying the challenge of learning a new instrument.
