Since being a teacher, Brenda has been involved in education for over 15 years. She currently teaches 6th grade math at Mickey Leland College Prep Academy for Young Men in downtown Houston. Since relocating to Texas 11 years ago, she has been teaching 6th and 7th grade math full-time in the Houston area. In addition, she has previously served on the State Board of Gifted Education in her home state of Pennsylvania.
She has an Accounting Degree from Bloomsburg University and taught post-secondary accounting courses for 3 years in Pennsylvania. Brenda enjoys traveling, gardening, golf, and technology. In the hope that her students receive the best educational experience, she recently received a $25,000 grant from State Farm for The Rusk School in Houston where she taught for 7 years. Specifically, the goal of the grant was for the students to build a geodesic dome greenhouse so they can learn about ecology and science hands on.
Brenda enjoys challenging her students to do their best in education. Her experiences have shown that all children can learn and be successful in an environment when their individual needs are met. She looks forward to working with your student!
